About KPV
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the three-amino-acid C-terminal fragment of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. The pigmentation actions of α-MSH live in its N-terminal sequence, but the anti-inflammatory actions are localized to this short C-terminal tripeptide — separable by the tissue or receptor system being studied. Why this separation matters: KPV inhibits NF-κB translocation and silences downstream TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 transcription across multiple cell types — gut, skin, immune — without triggering melanocortin-receptor-mediated pigmentation. It’s the anti-inflammatory fraction of α-MSH in isolation. IF the research question is compound anti-inflammatory signaling without pigmentation confounders, THEN KPV is the α-MSH fragment with the cleanest pharmacology. SO it belongs in IBD, colitis, wound-healing, and systemic-inflammation research. ≥99% HPLC purity.
